PORT ANGELES, Wash. - Specialized wildfire crews have been called in to help battle a fire burning near Lake Crescent in the Olympic National Park.

The fire is now 15% contained.

According to the National Park Service, the fire is burning just north of East Beach Road near Lake Crescent. It was first reported around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

The fire is estimated to be 65 acres in size and is burning on the south facing slope of the lake and is being pushed uphill by heavy winds.

Firefighters say the weather in the area is expected to shift to cooler moist conditions Sunday evening into Monday.

Officials suspect the fire is not natural and was started by a person. The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation.

The Western Washington Type 3 Incident Management team is now the primary team fighting the fire. The team is made up of specialized wildfire firefighters from all over Western Washington.

East Beach Road is closed from Highway 101 to Log Cabin Resort. The resort is still operating but day use recreation sites along East Beach Road in Olympic National Park are closed at this time.
