Three potential landing spots for Davante Adams if the Packers use the franchise tag then trade him.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported last week that the Green Bay Packers are “expected” to franchise tag Davante Adams, which would give them more time to “work toward a potential new deal”.

Presumably, the thinking there is the Packers still want to go all-in for a Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers, so they need to ensure they don’t lose their All-Pro wide receiver in free agency. But what if Rodgers doesn’t want to play in Green Bay, and GM Brian Gutekunst decides to trade Adams on the franchise tag?

Another team might be willing to send a first-rounder to the Packers for the five-time Pro Bowler, whereas the Packers would only get a 2023 third-round compensatory pick if he walks in free agency. A team trading for Adams would need to work out a long-term deal with him, as well as agreeing on a trade with the Packers.

While it might be unlikely the Packers franchise tag Adams then trade him, it shouldn’t be ruled out. Which three teams would make sense in a trade both from the Packers’ perspective but also for Adams?
