Texas Basketball: Latest bracketology shows Longhorns as No. 4 seed

The Texas Longhorns (17-7) finished the regular season on a three-game win streak against Iowa State, Oklahoma and TCU. As a result, the Longhorns are the No. 3 seed in the Big 12 Tournament and will face off against Texas Tech for the third time this season. Shortly after, the NCAA Tournament will tip off.

Texas has solid wins on their resume this year against North Carolina, Oklahoma, Kansas (twice), West Virginia and Oklahoma State. Fortunately for the Longhorns, they don’t necessarily have what many would consider a bad loss this season.

In the latest USA TODAY Sports bracketology, the Longhorns are projected to be the No. 4 seed in the South region.

If this stays put, Texas would share a region with three conference opponents: Baylor (0-2 this season), Kansas (2-0 this season) and Oklahoma State (1-1 this season).

How Texas finishes in the conference tournament will determine if they’ll stay where they’re at. First, they need to get past a tough Texas Tech team who swept them in the regular season. If they can get through the Red Raiders, it might be enough to keep them as a No. 4 seed in whichever region they’re placed in.
