Jon Hamm is the latest addition to the cast of Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming Paramount+ series “Landman.”

Hamm will appear in the series in a recurring guest star role. He joins previously announced series lead Billy Bob Thornton as well as cast members Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, Paulina Chávez, and Demi Moore.

The series is based on the podcast “Boomtown.” The official description for the series states it is “set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas” and the world of oil rigs. It is further described as “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”

Hamm will portray Monty Miller, described as “a titan of the Texas oil industry who has a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy Norris (Thornton).”

Hamm is best known for his Emmy-winning role in the AMC drama “Mad Men,” on which he starred as Don Draper throughout the show’s seven season run. The show also earned Hamm two Golden Globes and numerous other accolades. Hamm is also known for his collaborations with Tina Fey, having appeared in both “30 Rock” and “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” with his work on the latter show earning him another Emmy nomination and his work on the former earning him three.

Most recently, Hamm starred in Season 5 of the FX anthology series “Fargo,” the Amazon series “Good Omens,” and the third season of Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show.” His film roles include “Confess, Fletch,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Wild Mountain Thyme,” “Bridesmaids,” and “Baby Driver.” He currently stars in the Fox animated series “Grimsburg” and will star in the Apple series “Your Friends and Neighbors.”

“Landman” recently kicked off production in and around Fort Worth, Texas. Sheridan and Christian Wallace co-created the series and executive produce. Sheridan executive produces under his Bosque Ranch Productions banner, which is currently under a rich overall deal at Paramount Global. David Glasser, ​David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari also executive produce via 101 Studios. Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Stephen Kay executive produce with Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch for Imperative Development LLC, and J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt for Texas Monthly also executive produce. Peter Feldman serves as co-executive producer. MTV Entertainment Studios is producing the series.
