Judge sentences 11th-grader to life in prison for brutally murdering 98-year-old Wadsworth woman

MEDINA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - A 17-year-old was sentenced by a Medina County judge Thursday evening for the heinous murder of a 98-year-old woman.

Gavon Ramsay, an 11th grade student at Wadsworth High School, received life in prison without parole for the brutal and disturbing murder of Margaret Douglas.

Ramsay pleaded no contest in November to murdering Douglas. She was found in her home on Portage Street underneath a pile of clothes and a vacuum inside of a confined closet in April 2018.

The 9-count indictment for Ramsay, who is being tried as an adult, includes charges for aggravated murder, kidnapping, and aggravated burglary.

According to the prosecutor, Ramsay recorded himself brutally attacking the woman while she was asleep on her couch. He then used Douglas' dead body to please himself sexually while recording the acts.

On a separate occasion, Ramsay also allegedly communicated with a homosexual man through an online dating app, then assaulted him when the two met in person, according to details presented by the prosecutor.

A forensic psychologist who testified during sentencing diagnosed Ramsay with conduct disorder, alcohol and cannabis abuse disorder, and ADHD.

Other witnesses who were called to the stand to testify include Ramsay mother and father.
