The moron fanatic's blast then activated eight other fighter's suicide vests.
The cell was planning a murderous attack in Kunduz, Afghanistan, when the cock-up occurred.
But among their numbers was a clumsy jihadi who set off his explosives early by mistake, in turn fatally detonating another terrorist's suicide vest, which itself sparked another and another in a calamitous accident.
The extremists were en-route from their base in Dasht-e-Archi to the city of Kunduz, where they were expected to carry out a bloody suicide attack on civilians in a crowded public area, when the deadly slip-up occurred.
The monumental fail – reminiscent of a scene out of Brit terror-com film Four Lions – is sure to embarrass the Taliban.
The insurgents are attempting a comeback after years of obscurity following the US and Britain's War on Terror.
The conflict which booted the Taliban from power in Afghanistan in 2001 has eroded its leadership and reduced them to an elusive outfit of factious insurgents.
The group succeeded last spring in taking over Kunduz, the first urban area to fall to the Taliban in 14 years.
What's hot
As part of its annual spring offensive, the group held the city, the fifth biggest in the country, for two weeks before it was recovered by Afghan and US forces.
According to Afghanistan's defence minister Masoom Stanikzai, the terror group is now once again actively recruiting new members and preparing for "bigger attacks" – sparking chilling memories of countless Taliban massacres during the group's reign from 1996 to 2001 .
He said: "They are really very active. They are working in quiet and re-organising themselves and preparing themselves for bigger attacks.
"They are working behind other networks, giving them support and the experience they had in different places.
"And doubling their resources and recruitment. That is how – they are not talking too much. They are not making press statements. It is a big threat."
It is not the first time the Taliban has been left red-faced by premature detonation.
A group of 10 soldiers in a mosque in Ghazni province were killed recently as they clumsily put together animprovised explosive device.
Don’t miss
A rash of videos has also appeared showing hideous fails – like the Go-Pro footage intended for propaganda where an ISIS jihadi filmed his own death after he was shot in the head by a sniper.
Just yesterday (April 27) shocking new video of the moment one of the Paris attackers blows himself to pieces in a suicide attack.
And today, Paris attacker Salah Abdeslam, reportedly too scared to activate his suicide vest was branded a "moron" by his own lawyer as he was extradited to France to be questioned for his role in the atrocities.
