The movie star – who is in London shooting a sequel to Now You See Me – took his position as a striker after joining the group.
The natural player then proceeded to show off his ball skills in a park in Primrose Hill in North London.
Tom Ellis said then star had been watching them play before asking to join in the kick about.
"Woody was walking along and stood watching for a bit before asking if he could join in.
“He just wanted a game and a laugh.”
Another onlooker said: “Everybody was having a bit of a kickabout and suddenly Woody off Cheers was there," Ellis said.
"He’s not bad in front of goal, not great, but not bad.”
And it's not the first time the legend has had a chance to show off his skills.

In 2010 Woody scored the winning goal for the Rest of the World team against England at the Soccer AId Unicef match at Old Trafford.
"Scoring the winning goal at Old Trafford in 2010 was probably the highlight of a pretty great life," he said at the time.
“Granted, I instantly became the least popular man in England, but they loved me in Ireland.
"It was great to be a part of the Rest of the World’s first victory against the English team.”
