Edinson Cavani and Neymar'd relationship has been strained since their penalty dispute

NEYMAR and Edinson Cavani’s relationship has been the subject of much speculation this week after their penalty-taking disagreement.

The Paris Saint-Germain strike duo have been in the headlines since the weekend win over Lyon, during which they persistently argued over set piece duties.

And now, former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan has waded into the debate by claiming that Neymar wouldn’t have unleashed his ego on Lionel Messi in the same way.

Reports claim that Cavani was so desperate to take the penalty as he is due a £880,000 bonus payment should he finish as PSG’s top goalscorer.

"[Cavani] deserves respect," Forlan told Radio Sport 890.

Edinson Cavani will earn a huge bonus payment if he outscores Neymar

"He has been scoring goals for years and taking penalties, there has to be respect.

"Neymar would not have done that to Messi. He did not want Cavani to take the penalty.

“He was like a little boy annoying him. It's a problem between Neymar and Cavani, those things happen on all teams.

“What does not make sense is what Alves does, he doesn't give the ball to Cavani but gives it to Neymar as if he were his b***h.”

After unfollowing Cavani on Instagram, Neymar reportedly made it known that he wants the Uruguayan striker to be sold.

Neymar apparently told the French club's chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi that it is now “impossible” for the pair to play alongside one another.
