Durant and Irving both have one year left on their contracts at the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics respectively.

Several NBA teams are shuffling their rosters to create space for big-name arrivals next summer and Durant and Irving could be on the market if they do not re-sign with their current franchises.

The Knicks are strongly interested in Irving with reports suggesting he is their number one target for next summer.

While the Los Angeles Lakers are understood to be keeping an eye on Durant’s situation after back-to-back NBA Finals MVP winning seasons.

And Torre has claimed on his ESPN show High Noon the rumour among industry insiders is that Durant and Irving will play at Madison Square Garden with the Knicks in 2019.

Torre said: “I feel like the not-so-secret rumour among everybody in our business who we talk to…

“If you are not out there and you don’t talk to people in our business like we do, gossiping and such, everybody thinks that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are coming to the Knicks.

“And I would just like to say that on First Take, when we hosted in July 2017, I was out here saying Irving when he demanded that trade, would really like to come to New York.

“I feel like I can offer a welcome to everybody else atop the bandwagon.

“If they come to New York, I would like a little bit of credit for at the very least seeing it before the entire world foresaw it.”

But former NBA star Jalen Rose believes Durant will not leave the Warriors as he is already part of the best duo in the league.

“I just don’t think it’s going to take place,” Rose said on Jalen & Jacoby.

“For those who haven’t been paying attention, Kevin Durant is a part of the best duo in NBA right now with Steph Curry.

“They’ve won the last two championships and he’s won Finals MVP both times.

“I don’t see him upsetting the apple cart in any way, shape or form.”
