‘Homeworld 3’ Has Been Announced For PC

Following
This article is more than 4 years old.

Following the release of the decent remastered collection a few years back, Gearbox and Black Bird Interactive have announced Homeworld 3 for PC.

In a new teaser trailer, it looks like the Eye of Aarran is activated for a hyperspace jump. This means the game will be set after the events in Homeworld 2 and a flash of Karan S’jet, now with hair, helps to confirm that.

We also have some concept art flying around for the game that shows a mothership like the Pride of Hiigara against enormous dreadnoughts. Whether these could be unearthed Progenitor ships is a tantalizing possibility, but we will just have to wait and see.

It also sounds like Paul Ruskay is coming back to score the new game, so that is something to be happy about.

The only things that are somewhat of a concern are the companies behind this. Gearbox has somewhat of a bad reputation these days, though I thought they did a great job with the Homeworld Remastered Collection.

Following that, Deserts of Kharak wasn’t that great and I am not sure Black Bird Interactive is the right studio for this, especially when Relic is still making games, though admittedly now for Sega.

That said, a new Homeworld game is definitely something to celebrate and the additional news of a Homeworld Mobile and its new trailer also looks interesting.

Anyway, the Age of S’jet is finally upon us and its wonders and terrors await us sometime in the future.
