Tranmere Rovers are set to sign Newcastle United midfielder Jack Young on loan.

The ECHO understands Rovers manager Michael Jackson is keen to bring in the 19-year-old who was compared to England star Lewis Cook by former Newcastle under-23 boss Neil Redfearn last year.

Young has caught the eye of first-team manager Steve Bruce and was named on the bench for the first time in July after the Premier League restart.
