ESPN floats trade idea for Patrick Peterson with Minnesota Vikings and it is not too bad

Could the Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings make things work out for a Patrick Peterson trade?

The uncertainty of the Patrick Peterson situation has put the Arizona Cardinals in the cross-hairs of the mainstream media, something that doesn’t happen often, especially with a team that is 1-6.

That is the power of a Hall of Fame level cornerback.

Well, one of the more intriguing options that I have seen floated by a media member is one from Mike Sando of ESPN.

Let’s get right to it, from E$PN Insider:

Arizona would send Peterson to the Vikings for cornerback Trae Waynes, plus 2019 first- and third-round picks, with the Cardinals agreeing to keep Sam Bradford on their roster so that Minnesota will remain eligible for a 2019 third-round compensatory pick that would otherwise vanish.

That is an interesting package.

For the Cardinals, they get an immediate, younger replacement for Peterson in Trae Waynes. Waynes is under contract for 2019 and would give the Cardinals a good look moving forward.

It gives the Cardinals immediate picks in 2019 in the first and third rounds, where they can use them to move up, stockpile more picks or look to address immediate needs.

Imagine a scenario where the Cardinals are able to grab a Greedy Williams in the top five with their pick, Devin White in the 20’s with the Minnesota Vikings pick, then hammer home the offensive line on day two with players like Dalton Risner of Kansas State or David Edwards of Wisconsin.

All of a sudden, you have young talent on the offensive and defensive side of the ball and can really invest in the rebuild that you have denied for so long.

It isn’t an easy pill to swallow, but would the Minnesota package interest you?
