Syracuse, N.Y. — A woman who lived in the Syracuse area was among the 10 people shot in a racist attack at a Tops Supermarket in Buffalo, N.Y.
Roberta Drury, 32, was killed when a man opened fire at the supermarket on Saturday, Drury’s sister Amanda Drury confirmed to syracuse.com | The Post-Standard.
Drury attended Cicero-North Syracuse High School, according to her Facebook.
She was “a bright vibrant person,” Amanda Drury said.
She was in Buffalo to be with her older brother, Amanda Drury said.
North Syracuse Central School District Superintendent of Schools Daniel Bowles released a statement on Drury’s passing.
“The news of the shooting so close to home is devastating enough, but to learn that a member of our NorthStar family fell victim to an extremist act of hate, is unfathomable,” Bowles wrote on the school district’s Facebook.
“Our hearts are broken by news of the despicable act and they go out to the families of friends of Roberta and all the victims,” he said.
“Please join us as we mourn the senseless loss of our NorthStar family member, Roberta Drury and stand with us against violence, hate and intolerance,” he said.
