It was over a decade ago when Dostana (2008) hit theatres, but Priyanka Chopra’s slinky metallic sari and bikini blouse is still etched in every fashion girl’s memory—such was the impact of Manish Malhotra’s barely-there drape. Since then, the global star has proven her love affair with the classic six yards in iterations by Sabyasachi, Tarun Tahiliani and Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla repeatedly. Be it pastels flowers in organza, lace or regal mukaish work on ivory silk, Chopra has relied on heavily-ornamented versions for red carpet events and celebrity weddings alike. And knowing the power of a well-cut blouse, she has also worked styled like strapless necklines, corset styles and open backs. Scroll through our edit below of five statement saris Priyanka Chopra has included in her traditional wardrobe. Also find helpful options you can recreate her looks with.

Priyanka Chopra’s grey lace sari will make you want one in the colour

Like many other Bollywood stars, Priyanka Chopra was spotted arriving at Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s wedding celebrations being held at the Jio World Centre in BKC, Mumbai. For the celebrations, Chopra chose a lace sari by Tarun Tahiliani in an unusual dove grey hue. The actor accessorised her regal look with a pair of diamond earrings and a diamond bracelet by Mehta & Sons, and a ring by Jaipur Gems. She completed her ethnic look with a pair of metallic heels by Stoffa. The actor was accompanied by her mother Madhu Chopra and brother Siddharth Chopra.

With pastels being a huge wedding trend, Priyanka Chopra’s choice of sari by Tarun Tahiliani was a complete win. The semi-sheer sari makes a great option for someone not keen on traditional weaves, while the intricate Swarovski detailing added the right amount of shine to her ensemble. Chopra finished her look with burgundy lips, shimmery eyes, and wavy hair.

Priyanka Chopra’s floral Sabyasachi sari is a romantic wedding must-have

Priyanka Chopra’s floral Sabyasachi sari is a romantic wedding must-have

It would appear that black has been Priyanka Chopra’s go-to colour this week. After attending Vogue Japan’s 20th anniversary party in Milan on September 19 wearing an ebony Alberta Ferretti pantsuit, the actor stepped out last evening in a black Sabyasachi sari to promote her new film The Sky Is Pink on the sets of a reality TV show in Mumbai. An organza drape, the six yard staple was patterned with romantic blooms in shades of coral, yellow and blush pink. The sari also came with a thin, embellished border that added the perfect finishing touch. Chopra wore the sari with a strappy sleeveless blouse. Scroll ahead to take a closer look.

Priyanka Chopra wore statement earrings and her mangalsutra with her floral sari

To elevate her black Sabyasachi look, Priyanka Chopra opted for a pair of chunky earrings by Ayana Silver Jewellery. She paired these with a stack of solid black bangles, a watch and her much-talked-about mangalsutra. Given the city’s high humidity levels right now, the actor’s hairstylist Florian Hurel kept her locks fuss-free in tousled waves, while makeup artist Uday Shirali stuck to Chopra’s signature winged eyeliner + plum lips to round off her look. Wondering what to wear for your friend’s monsoon wedding? Take cues from Priyanka Chopra’s recent look, and consider a black floral printed sari. Priyanka Chopra’s ivory mukaish sari will become your favourite wedding look

Priyanka Chopra’s ivory mukaish sari will become your favourite wedding look

Priyanka Chopra is clearly having a stellar week. After receiving the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award at the 2019 UNICEF Snowflake Ball on December 3, the actor was bestowed with another award at the 2019 Marrakech International Film Festival, which is being held at the city’s medina quarter. The 37-year-old was spotted at the event dressed in an ivory Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla sari, which she teamed with a unique blouse. In case you missed it, this is actually Chopra’s second time at the Marrakech International Film Festival, and also her second time attending the event dressed in the traditional six yard drape. The last time the actor attended was back in 2012, and her designer of choice then was Ritu Kumar. This time around, Priyanka Chopra shared an album from the evening with a heartfelt message of gratitude: “To think that my career started nearly 20 years ago is surreal. I am honoured and proud to be recognised tonight at the Marrakech Film Festival. Thank you, truly, to everyone who came out to Jemaa el Fna square.” Scroll ahead to take a closer look at her sari and jewellery below.

Priyanka Chopra’s sari combined several craftsmanship techniques

Priyanka Chopra’s ivory six yard was doused in mukaish work and hand embroidered with sequins in a geometric jaali leitmotif. Foral gold zardozi borders framed the sari perfectly. “It was an absolute delight to dress Priyanka for this very special moment at the Marrakech International Film Festival, where she was felicitated for her extraordinary two-decade career as an actor and also as a producer. This sari is an ode to her brilliance and beauty. Although a sari is quintessentially and iconically Indian, its elegance is matched by its slinky, sensual blouse,” the designer duo told us in an exclusive chat.

To give a contemporary, red carpet-ready spin to her Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla sari, Priyanka Chopra gave archetypical blouses a rain check. Instead, she opted for a corset-style strapless metallic blouse. A stop-and-stare diamond neckpiece was the ideal finishing touch to her ethnic ensemble. To keep the neckline of her ensemble looking elegant and fuss-free, Chopra had her hair pinned up in a loose bun with wisps of strands framing her face, and her dewy makeup was accentuated with metallic lids and coral pink matte lips.

For sari purists, a creation like Priyanka Chopra’s is one worth investing in. It can easily take you from a friend’s pheras in the day to an evening wedding reception. Want to buy a similar sari? Look at our edit below.

The ceremony was also attended by Madhu Chopra, Maisie Williams, Ashley Graham and Kevin Jonas and Danielle Deleasa Jonas. If you love wearing pink, Priyanka Chopra’s latest look is bound to make it to your must-haves list.

Priyanka Chopra paired her sheer Tarun Tahiliani sari with a sexy corset blouse

Priyanka Chopra‘s work takes her across the globe, and this week, it saw her back home in Mumbai for the 15th edition of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour Finale. The actor loves her saris, and for the event, she picked an interesting black Tarun Tahiliani design. Priyanka Chopra paired her sari with a corset blouse

It’s safe to say that the easiest way to elevate a sari is to style it with a winning blouse, and Priyanka Chopra did just that. For her latest outing, the actor wore her black drape with a sleeveless corset blouse featuring gold embroidery that made the highlight of her look. Instead of the classic drape on one shoulder, the pallu was draped across the back and off the shoulders, giving the look a contemporary spin. Keeping up with her not-so-basic ensemble, the actor opted for an equally striking beauty look, with statement thick winged liner, a metallic nude lip colour and highlighter, and pulled hair up in a clean bun.

No matter what the occasion is, a classic black sari never feels out of place. If you’ve been on the hunt for an out-of-the-box drape, let Priyanka Chopra’s number inspire your next buy. Wish to recreate her look? Check out our edit of similar products below.
