Priyanka Chopra is clearly having a stellar week. After receiving the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award at the 2019 UNICEF Snowflake Ball on December 3, the actor was bestowed with another award at the 2019 Marrakech International Film Festival, which is being held at the city’s medina quarter. The 37-year-old was spotted at the event dressed in an ivory Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla sari, which she teamed with a unique blouse. In case you missed it, this is actually Chopra’s second time at the Marrakech International Film Festival, and also her second time attending the event dressed in the traditional six yard drape. The last time the actor attended was back in 2012, and her designer of choice then was Ritu Kumar. This time around, Priyanka Chopra shared an album from the evening with a heartfelt message of gratitude: “To think that my career started nearly 20 years ago is surreal. I am honoured and proud to be recognised tonight at the Marrakech Film Festival. Thank you, truly, to everyone who came out to Jemaa el Fna square.” Scroll ahead to take a closer look at her sari and jewellery below.
Priyanka Chopra’s sari combined several craftsmanship techniques
Priyanka Chopra’s ivory six yard was doused in mukaish work and hand embroidered with sequins in a geometric jaali leitmotif. Foral gold zardozi borders framed the sari perfectly. “It was an absolute delight to dress Priyanka for this very special moment at the Marrakech International Film Festival, where she was felicitated for her extraordinary two-decade career as an actor and also as a producer. This sari is an ode to her brilliance and beauty. Although a sari is quintessentially and iconically Indian, its elegance is matched by its slinky, sensual blouse,” the designer duo told us in an exclusive chat.
Take a closer look at Priyanka Chopra’s blouse design
To give a contemporary, red carpet-ready spin to her Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla sari, Priyanka Chopra gave archetypical blouses a rain check. Instead, she opted for a corset-style strapless metallic blouse. A stop-and-stare diamond neckpiece was the ideal finishing touch to her ethnic ensemble. To keep the neckline of her ensemble looking elegant and fuss-free, Chopra had her hair pinned up in a loose bun with wisps of strands framing her face, and her dewy makeup was accentuated with metallic lids and coral pink matte lips.
