Watch Rick Astley Cover the Foo Fighters’ ‘Everlong’ for Charity
It seems like everything Rick Astley does is meant to break the internet. Take, for example, the stellar, kinda rocking cover of the Foo Fighters‘ “Everlong” that he posted this week to promote an upcoming charity show.
“Jamming a little Foo Fighters at home in preparation for Shepherds Bush Empire,” he wrote alongside the not-at-all RickRolllish video, in which he plays some electric guitar while wearing a skull-bedecked western shirt.
“I’ll be playing drums, not guitar, so it’ll sound a lot better than that,” Astley promised of the Dec. 23 gig in support of the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Foundation. He also promised he’d play a few Christmas songs — so what are you waiting for?

The gig tops off what’s been a pretty epic year for Astley, who climbed back onto the Billboard Independent Albums chart in October after a 23-year absence. The singer — who topped the Billboard Hot 100 twice, with 1988’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” and “Together Forever” — debuted at No. 23 on the Independent Albums chart dated Oct. 29 with his comeback album 50. It was Astley’s first album to chart since 1993’s Body & Soul, which debuted and peaked at No. 185 on Oct. 16, 1993.
