The Hawaii State Bar Association is planning a conference in Tokyo, Japan with the Dai-Ichi Tokyo Bar Association (“DITBA”) for September 9-11, 2012. PLEASE SAVE THESE DATES! The HSBA and the DITBA entered into a Friendship Agreement over six years ago. Since then, the relationship has been nurtured through various cooperative activities, including alternating visits to each other’s home turf.
Originally planned for April 2011, this “Friendship Meeting” was re-scheduled after last year’s terrible earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan. This would be a wonderful time to visit Japan and show our aloha for our Japanese colleagues. This conference is open to all HSBA members and is being sponsored by the HSBA International Law Section.
Educational courses, networking meetings, personalized excursions, and nightly festivities in Tokyo are all being planned. The Law Conference program will offer collaborative and interactive sessions on relevant and timely legal subjects led by lawyers from the HSBA and the DITBA. The culmination of the joint bar event will be a Friendship Meeting and Reception between the HSBA and the DITBA. HSBA members will also be able to earn three credits of mandatory continuing professional education for Hawaii. There will be many opportunities for professional networking during the Law Conference and the related social activities, including networking with HSBA members practicing in Tokyo. There will also be a few special surprises for those who attend.
