Storm spotter training classes in the Tri-State area will begin March 4th and wrap up on March 28th. Classes are open to people of all ages who have an interest in learning more about High Plains’ storms, weather safety or storm spotting. Classes are free and there are no prerequisites. One class will be held in each county on a weekday evening between 6:30 and 8:30 pm. Topics will include an update on Wireless Emergency Alerts, new Impact-Based Warnings, thunderstorm organization and evolution, clouds associated with thunderstorms and their meaning for spotters, thunderstorm hazards, safety, severe weather elements to report and how to report. Elementary and high school teachers may consider giving their students extra credit for attending a class. A list of all classes in the Tri-State area is enclosed.
