Natural Resources Section: Monthly Meeting

NRS will host guest speakers David Tanoue and Don Kitaoka, who will discuss: “The Impact of Recent Environmental Case Law on City Land Use, Permitting, and Planning.”

David Tanoue is the Director of the Department of Planning and Permitting. His department is responsible for the City’s long range land planning and processing applications for land use approvals, zoning and land use permits, construction and building permits, and engineering and subdivision permits. Mr. Tanoue was formerly a Deputy Corporation Counsel.

Don Kitaoka is a Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City and County of Honolulu. He has been with the City for over 10 years and argued several cases before Hawaii’s appellate courts. Mr. Kitaoka supervises the land use section of the Department of the Corporation Counsel and advises the City on land use and environmental law issues.
