Discover Brazil through Google Earth

“Place” is universal, spanning disciplines, cultures, and nature, connecting us all to the surrounding world. The new browser-based version of Google Earth makes it easier than ever to turn your students into global explorers and help prepare them to become citizens who are engaged with the world.

Google Earth enables everyone to interpret and understand these relationships by visualizing locations, directions, geophysical features, and environmental changes. The more we engage with Google Earth, the better we understand our interdependent world, and the more equipped we are for a global future.

With Voyager, your students will discover a collection of map-based stories on topics like travel, culture, nature, and history. There are many studies that prove we are all wired to remember stories much more than data, facts, and figures. However, when data and stories are used together, it is possible to grow both emotionally and intellectually. So take your classrooms into the heart of the Amazon with stories covering a wide range of issues facing the future of the rainforest -- and, consequently, the planet. Your students will learn about the supply chain behind the vast array of delicacies from the forest such as Brazil nuts and açaí that end up on supermarket shelves worldwide; or about local economies once dependent on illegal logging that are now reorganizing themselves around sustainability; or about Quilombolas, communities of descendants of runaway enslaved peoples, and their struggle to obtain titles for their lands.
