Bharat Electronics Limited is an Indian state-owned defence electronics and aerospace company headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It is a Navratna central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Defence.
BEL was established in 1954 to meet the specialised electronic requirements of the Indian Armed Forces. Its defence portfolio includes military radars, communication equipment, missile-system electronics, electronic-warfare systems, avionics, naval systems, electro-optics, tank electronics, sonars and command-and-control systems.
The company also manufactures civilian products and systems, including electronic voting machines, railway electronics, homeland-security systems, cyber-security products and smart-city infrastructure.
