Nordea Bank Abp, commonly referred to as Nordea, is a Nordic financial services group operating in northern Europe with headquarters in Helsinki, Finland. The name is a blend of the words "Nordic" and "idea". The Nordic countries are considered Nordea's home market, following the sale of its Polish business in 2014, the divestment of its Baltic operations in 2019, and its exit from Russia in 2022. Nordea is listed on Nasdaq Nordic exchanges in Helsinki, Copenhagen, and Stockholm, while its American Depository Receipts are traded in the US.
Nordea serves 6.5 million household customers and more than 500,000 active corporate customers. Nordea's credit portfolio is distributed across Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Operations are organized into four business areas: Personal Banking, Business Banking, Large Corporates & Institutions, and Asset & Wealth Management. Assets under Management were €478 billion in December 2025.
