NewLead Holdings Ltd. is an international shipping company. The Company's principal activity is the operation of dry bulk vessels and oil tanker/asphalt carriers either controlled or managed. The Company is engaged in the transportation of refined products, such as gasoline bitumen/ asphalt and jet fuel, and dry bulk goods, such as iron ore, coal and grain. The Company's segments are wet and dry operations. The dry operations consist of transportation and handling of bulk cargoes, and the wet operations consist of transportation of asphalt through ownership, operation, and management of vessels. It conducts its operations through vessel-owning companies with principal activity in the ownership and/or operation of bitumen and dry bulk vessels. In addition, it performs the commercial and/or technical and/or operational management of vessels outside of its fleet. The vessels are engaged in the transportation of a range of refined petroleum products and an array of unpackaged cargo.
