The benchmark S&P 500 index has achieved its eighth consecutive week of gains, marking a period of sustained growth despite recent volatility. This performance has been largely supported by robust corporate earnings cycles and strong demand for technology and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration has projected that domestic natural gas and crude oil production will reach record highs in 2026. Despite this increased output, annual inflation has accelerated to an estimated 3.7% due to the lag effects of prior energy shocks and high gasoline prices.

Policymakers have kept the federal funds rate in the 3.5% to 3.75% range for three consecutive meetings as they monitor core inflation data. While a majority of officials suggest that future hikes might be necessary if prices remain high, some market participants anticipate a potential shift toward easing later in the year if labor markets soften.
