iRobot Corporation designs and builds robots. The Company offers consumer products, defense and security products, remote presence products and handles contract research and development projects. The Company’s home care robots perform time-consuming domestic chores. Its defense and security robots perform tasks, such as battlefield reconnaissance and bomb disposal, and multi-purpose tasks for local police and first responders, as well as certain commercial users. Its remote presence robots expand the reach of medical care by connecting physicians with patients from anywhere in the world and also provide autonomous telepresence capabilities enabling remote workers to more personally collaborate throughout the workplace. The Company sells its robots through a range of distribution channels, including chain stores and other national retailers, through its on-line store, through value added distributors and resellers.
