The new inbox organizes email into five optional tabs: primary, social, promotions, updates and forums. These categories make it easy to read messages of the same type all at once, and keep track of your mail.
Easy to customize
You choose the tabs you want. And, if you see a message you want in a different tab, all you have to do is drag and drop it into the tab you choose.
Get the new inbox on your mobile device
The new inbox is available in Gmail's official mobile apps on Android 4.0+ devices as well as the iPhone and iPad. Your primary tab is shown when you open your email with easy access to the other tabs.
More customization options
Starring a message will show it in the primary tab as a way to ensure you don’t lose sight of it. You can also choose to have a sender always appear in a particular tab.

Custom themes
The number of themes has increased from 35 to...infinity. Select your own image to use as a custom theme, or choose from a selection of photos.
