The prima-ry object of the invention resides in the provision of a gauge of the above type wherein the marking devices carried by the gauge frame are arranged in pairs and adjustably mounted in the gauge frame to permit the marking of a window frame at the desired point for the boring of sashk cord pulley openings. v v

Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawing, the gauge embodies a fra-me including a block l having a' fiat inner face 2 with the upper and lower ends of the outer face arched as at 3. The imier face 2 of the gauge'frame is provided with a central longitudinal groove 4 into which a removable parting strip section 5 is positioned as illustrated in Fig. 4, the V'strip 5 extending the entire length of the block frame l. A .stop plate 6 Vis secured to the upper end of the frame l and overhangs the inner face 2 of the frame as at 6, the stopV plate being adapted to `have the projecting edge 6a thereof engage the upper end of a window frame F as shown in Fig. 2 for' properly positioning the gauge upon a window frame during the marking thereof. The window frame F has a groove Gr formed therein that receives the removable parting strip 5 for positioning the gauge upon the window frame, and in the instance where the parting strip is xed to the frame F, the removable parting strip 5 is removed from the kgauge frame groove 4 for reception of the parting strip in the groove 4.
The inner face 2 of the gauge'frame is providedl with a pair of longitudinally extending pockets 7, onear'ranged at each side of the groove'4 and 'transversely alined as shown in Fig. l, slotted openings'S being formed in the outer face of the gauge frame in communication with the pockets 7, while the side walls of the gauge frame are longitudinally slotted as at 9, a face plate 8 being secured-to theouter face-of the frame while .a face plate 9L is secured to the side edge thereof as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
A gauge block- 10 is adjustably mounted in'each pocket 7, the block l() being provided with alOngitudinally extending groove ll openingat the ends thereof and yhaving a face plate l2 secured 'tothe lower or inner side, and a face platejl secured to'one side of thej'block, an opening being provided through the faceplate Vl?) andfadjacent wall of the blocklO -as shown in Figs. 4 and 5.-
A.- plurality of marking spurs .are positioned iny thek groove 1lv ofthe markingY block, each spur including a marking point 14 and an angle base portion l5. The spurs are positioned in the grooves l1 with the angle portions l5 atly engaging the bottom Wall of the groove as shown in Fig. 4; with the retaining strip 16 shown in Figs. 4 and 6 posit-ioned in the groove above the angle base and laterally of the marking points V14, the opposite ends of the strip 16 being angularly bent in opposite directions as at 17 to prevent longitudinal shifting movements thereof Within the groove 11 of the block.
Set screws 18 pass through the side openings in the block 10 and engage the retaining strip 16 as shown in Fig. 4f, to move the same into binding engagement with the spurs 14, the series of spurs in each block groove 11 being anchored therein against movement. The longitudinal adjustment of the block members 10 is accomplished by the set screws 19 that extend through the grooves 8 of the gauge frame and engage at their inner ends the lower faces of the gauge blocks 19, the set screws 19 being threaded into the gaugev blocks for moving the same into engagement with the bottom Walls of d the pockets 7 to frictionally retain the block against iongitudinally shifting movement, such shifting movement of the block being accomplished by loosening the set screws 18 and 19, the block being shifted in the pocket 7 While the set screws move through the slotted openings 8 and 9. With the gauge blocks properly positioned in the pockets 7, and the Oauge frame mounted upon the Window frame F, pressure on the gauge frame as by striking the face plate 8a With ahammer or other implement Will cause the pointed spurs 14 to mark the surface of the Window frame F to indicate the point at which openings are to be made for mounting the. sashk cord pulleys.
While there is vherein shown anddesoribed the preferred embodiment of the present invention, it is nevertheless to beunderstood that minor changes may be made therein Without departing from the spirit and soop'e of the invention as claimed.

In a gauge of the type described, a frame block having spaced pockets therein, a gauge block adjustably mounted in each pocket, each gauge block having a longitudinal groove in the exposed side thereof, marking spurs removably mounted in the block groove, a retaining strip for the spurs and means for clamping the spurs and retaining strip in the block groove.

In a gauge of the type described, a frame block, a pair of gauge blocks adjustably supported on the frame block, a plurality of spur markers carried by each gauge block, a top plate secured to the upper' edge of the frame bloek vand overhanging the Working face thereof, a retainer strip for the spurs, and angle base flanges carried by the spurs disposed beneath the retaining strip.

In a gauge of the type described, a frame block having spaced pockets therein, a gauge block adjustably mounted in each pocket, each gauge block having a longitudinal groove in the exposed side thereof, marking spurs removablyV mounted in the block groove, a retaining strip for the spurs, means for clamping the spurs and retaining strip in the block groove, a top plate secured to the upper edge of the frame block and overhanging the 1working face thereof, and angle base flanges carried by the spurs disposed beneath the retaining strip.

In a gauge of the type described, a frame block, a pair of gauge blocks adjustably supported on the' frame' block, a plurality of spur markers carried by each gauge block, a top plate secured to the upper edge of the frame block and overhanging the working face thereof, a retaining strip for the spurs, angle base flanges car-V ried by the spurs disposed beneath the retaining strip, and said frame block having a longitudinal groove in the Working facey for the reception of av removable parting strip. In a gauge of the t pe' described, a frame block having spacedy pockets therein, a gauge block adjustably mounted in each pocket, each gauge block having a longitu dinal groove in the exposed side thereof, marking spurs removably mounted in the block groove, a retaining strip for the spurs, means for clamping the spurs and retaining strip in the block groove, a top plate securedV to the upper edge of the frame biock and overhanging the Working face thereof, anf gle base flanges carried by the spurs dis-` posed beneath the retaining strip, and said frame block having a longitudinal groove in the Working face for the reception of a removable parting strip.
