Description
A. W. BRINKERHOFF.
HAND 001m HUSKER.
No. 253,970. Patented Feb. 21,1882.
UNITE STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALEXANDER W. BRINKERHOFF, OF UPPER SANDUSKY, OHIO.
HAND CORN-HUSKER.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent'No. 253,970, dated February 21, 1882.
Application filed October 10, 1881.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER \V. BRINK- ERIIOFF, of Upper Sandusky, in the county of Wyan'dot and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hand Corn-Huskers; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a perspective view of one section of the implement. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the other section of the implement. Fig. 3 is a cross-section on the line y yof Fig.1; and Fig. 4 shows the implement in the hand, ready for use. v
The invention has relation to adjustable metallic hand corn-husking implements; and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates one section of thehusking implement having its toothed end 0 provided with a curved guard, c, to receive the forefinger of the hand. Its rear end is provided with lips a a, formed by'turning over and inward the edges of the body of the section, as shown, which form between them and the bed-plate grooves b b. B designates another section, curved at its rearend to form a (Model) guard for the little finger, and having lips e e to keep the sections together when combined.
To apply the device to the hand draw the sections well out in length, then slip it on the hand with the spur over the forefinger, the bodyof theimplement being inside ofthehandJ Place the thumb of the same hand on the curved end 0 and strike the opposite end on a hard substance to shorten the clasp until it fits the hand as desired. If desired, the lips aa may then be tightened to lock the sections permanently together, which will cause the implement t0 fit the hand to which it has been adjusted at all times. The implement may be worn on the bare hand, or upon the hand when i'ncased in a glove or mitten.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a corn-husking implement, the combina- 50 tion, with the section A, provided with the spur c, curved guard c, and lips and grooves a a and b b, of the sectionB ,havingthe curved guard and the lips e e, substantially as specified.
