Description

(N0 Modem G. & 1+1. H. HIBBERD. OOMBINATION TOOL.
N0. 304,320. Patented Sept. Z, 1884.
IINETED STATES PATENT FFICE GEORGE I:IIBBERD AND HARRY H. HIBBERD, OF WVHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA.
COMBINATION-TOOL.
SPBCIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 304,320, dated September 2, 1884.
Application filed July l. 1884. (N0 model.)
T0 aZZ whom z't may concern:
Be it known that wo, GEORGE HIBBERD and HARRY H. HIBBERD, citizens of the United Stabes, residing ab Wheeling, in the eounty of Ohio and State of WVesta Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oombination-Tools, of whiel1 the following is a speeification.
The invenbion has for its object the perfection 0f the device described and elai1ned in my contemporaneous a;3plication, N0. 130,870, filed 011 the 9th of May, 1884. In the deviee deseribed in said application a pair of pothooks Were arranged on the end of the handle remote fro1n he pan-lifter and hammer-head, but ibl1as been fonnd thab when located in this position they are apt to hurt the band in lifbing heavy weights, driving taeks, &c.
The invention consists, therefore, in locating said pot-hooks upon the end 0f the imple- 1nent; With the other devices which reqnire more 01 less sbrengbh in using them.
In order tha our invention may be fully understood, we will proeeed t0 describe it With reference to the accompanying drawings, in whieh- Figure I is a side elevation 0f ourimp1oved combination-tool. Fig. II is a top view 0f the Same, and Fig. III is an end view thereof.
1 is the shank, which is enrved, as shown ab 2, to form a stoveplate lifter, a notch, 3, in the extremity thereof adapting it for use as a tack-drawer. 4 is a heel 01 fulerum,Which will assisb in drawing the taek should the enrved heel 0f tl1e tack-drawer prove insufficient. 'lhe other end 0f the implement is provided with two separate arms, 5 6, the first one, 5, being so shaped as to serve the purpose 0f a taek-hammer, and the second, 6, formed of a shape approximating that of the letter C. The edge of the pan is inserted in the opening 7 thus formed, and when power is applied t0 the handle for thepurpose of lifbing it io bears against the shoulder 8 and the inner face 0f the overhanging portion of the C-shaped arm 6. 9 is the pob-hook, which is for1ned 011 the upper p0iti01l of the lug 7, and curved baekward, as represented.
Having bhus deseribed our invention, the follo\ving is what we olaim as new therein and desire t0 secure by Letters Patent:
l. In a combination-too], the combination, With a snitable handle,of a pan-lifter and pothoek formed on on end of said handle, substantially as shown and described.
2. In a eombinabion-tool, the combination, With a suitable handle,of a hammer-head and pob-hook formed 011 one end of said handle, as deseribed.
8. 'Ihe hereindeseribed combination-too], comprising a handle having a stove-plate lifter and a tack-drawer formed on one end thereof, and pan-lifter, tack-hammer, and poth0ok formed 011 the ot-her end, subsbantially as described.
