    I JOHN IVIOCLURE AND ALEXANDER BINGS, OF PHILADELPHIA,

    PENNSYLVANIA.

    GAM E APPARATUS.

    SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters IPatent No. 600,7 38, dated March 15, 1898.

    Application filed April 2 9 1 8 9 7- To a whom it may concern:

    Be it known that we, JOHN MOOLURE and ALEXANDER BINGS, citizens of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State-of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain "Improvement in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification. I

    Ourinvention relates to a new and amusing game, the object of which is to imitate the playing of foot-ball; and it consists of a rectangular tray having the proper divisions marked thereon and the goals and touch-down cages located at each end of the tray, and the playing is carried on by two persons, each having a putter adapted to take asufficient hold upon the ball to transfer the latter from one portion of the tray to the other.

    The accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification, represents in perspective a game made in accordance with our improvement, showin g the ball at the startin gpoint and one of the putters in the act of taking hold of said ball. I

    In the drawing, A represents the tray,which is here shown as oblong, having sides of sufficient height to retain the ball therein under ordinary circumstances, and at each end of the tray is placed a strip B, preferably of wood, so formed as to produce a goal 0 and the touch-clown cages D. Upon the surface of the tray are marked lines crosswise thereof which are designated by the numbers 10, 25, and 50, respectively, starting from each goal and progressing inwardly, or any number of these lines may be used. In the center of the tray is inscribed a circle E, which is preferably of asuitable color, and upon this spot the ball F or other object is placed prior to the starting of the game.

    There are provided two putters, each consisting of a wire or rod G, having formed upon one end thereof a circular loop or ring II, and the outer end of the wire is provided with a handle I for the manipulation of the device.

    The method of playing the game consists in Serial No. 634,325. (No model.)

    found difficult when both players have the same object in view and are attempting to accomplish said object it will be seen that an exceedingly amusing and exciting game will be provided.

    Many of the rules of an ordinary foot-ball game may be followed in the playing of this game, and by so doing popular interest will be added to the inherent amusement and excitement of the game.

    A game madein accordance with our improvement is inexpensive and may be played in any locality upon a table, and afiords much sport for both young and old;

    Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim is In a game apparatus, an oblong tray having sides to retain a ball therein, a flat strip placed at each end of the tray, said strips having deep indentations formed in the center of their edges and shallower indentations to each side thereof, the surface of the tray havin g a circle marked thereon and lines running across, the circle being at the center of the tray and the lines at each end, aball adapted to be moved from one portion to the other of the tray, said ball being of a size to fit snugly in the center indentations, in combination with putters each having a ring at one end of a size to take hold of the ball to move it, substantially as described.

    In testimony whereof we have hereunto affiXed our signatures in the presence of'two subscribing witnesses.
