disable your secure boot option from bios and then try again. If it is not working then make your bootable USB again with Ubuntu 14.04.4 or 16.04 and also verify your ISO. It'll boot to the splash screen, but once I press enter to boot into live, I just get a black screen. I tried all the different boot options at the bottom and same issue. I've got my new Travelmate yesterday, an X349-m-597M version, and i tried to install many distributions of linux (manjaro, ubuntu, kde neon, mint) from usb bootable stick (used tools: rufus, ImageWrite, unebootin, dd). After i step into the bootloader and pick an installation option, i got a black screen.
