Earth's magnetic poles are the points where the planet's magnetic field lines emerge from and converge into. Due to the nature of the magnetic field, what we refer to as the 'North Magnetic Pole' is technically a 'South Magnetic Pole' as it attracts the north pole of a compass needle.
