High Microphone Volume Setting Check out your volume setting on your microphone. If it is too high, it could be causing the high pitch noise. When an audio device's volume is too loud, it will bounce back and cause high pitched squeals.

Firstly try and position the microphone so it isn't inline with the speakers, ideally you should have the speakers in front pointing at the audience with the mic behind them although this isn't always possible. Secondly angle the speakers away from the microphone so the mic is less likely to pick them up.

There a handful of reasons that a microphone will emit static sounds. The most common problem is that the gain, which is basically the mic's sensitivity, is set too high on your amp or audio interface. However, ambient sound, bad cable connections, and moving air are also common culprits.

If you hear crackling with another headset, the cause may be a dirty, cracked or worn jack, or a problem with your computer's sound card. Gently clean the jack using a cotton swab: snip off one end so that only a small portion of cotton remains and dip in a small amount of rubbing alcohol.
