1/ From the outside, the Cocoon is attractive, quite well-made with its waterproof closure and carrying handle. The shoulder strap is practical, adjustable, and features the Devialet logo woven into the fabric. However, the interior is rather, to say the least, "cheap": the loose piece of polystyrene that only protects the base is irrelevant, as the most fragile parts are on the sides (the microphones!). It would have been better to add padding to the entire interior of the Cocoon, even if it meant adding 1 to 2 cm of thickness, making it more effective against impacts, or to make the casing more rigid. 2/ It was in 2022 that you launched this Devialet Mania portable speaker. By that time, connected products were already widespread, and pairing interfaces had greatly improved, transforming the experience of connecting two devices via Bluetooth into something very simple and extremely fast. Your interface is not the simplest or fastest I've ever seen. It's a shame for a company that has received so many awards and filed so many patents for its amplifiers.

The sound quality is undeniably excellent when the speaker is working properly, especially for listening to music. However, the overall experience is significantly hampered by a lack of stability and compatibility issues in otherwise standard uses. When streaming Spotify (Spotify Connect), the sound sometimes cuts out for no reason, even though playback continues on the phone. When using it with a TV (Samsung The Frame), I noticed a noticeable audio lag via HDMI/eARC as well as optical, along with a sometimes metallic sound on voices. Over Bluetooth, the sound is unstable, with lag, a metallic sound, and occasionally a strange left/right balance. For such an expensive product, recently purchased, these recurring problems clearly detract from the experience and give the impression of a product that is very high-performing in terms of sound, but insufficiently reliable for everyday use. I hope for improvement through a software solution or appropriate support, because the potential is there, but the experience is not up to the expected standard for this price segment.

As one of the first Phantom customers, I recently acquired this remote. It's functional, very responsive (better than the very first generation), weighty (in a good way), and simply gorgeous. It's definitely better than using your phone. The gesture has something almost vintage about it; it rematerializes the music. Honestly, it enriches the experience; it's like an old music listening ritual. There's something nostalgic, almost magical, about using the remote. Unnecessary because the phone does the job, but also as unnecessary as buying beautiful speakers, listening to music, or eating a good meal. It's frivolous, yet so essential. I love it.

Lighter battery, better color, but neutral mode is no longer available and you can no longer manually adjust the intensity of the modes. I'm very happy with the sound quality but a little disappointed by the adaptive noise cancellation. Perhaps I'm not positioning the earbuds correctly enough; we'll see how it goes. After a train journey, you're not yet in complete isolation.

Ultra-high-quality sound redefined by groundbreaking technology. A sound that evokes a unique and powerful emotion through its singular vibration. A sound that isn't just listened to, but experienced from the moment you turn on this "emotion machine." A huge thank you to Devialet for this beautiful redefinition of sound.
