Function of Beauty

Shipping time took 2 weeks to Hawaii and took a few days longer than the estimated time. I was really excited to try this product since all the reviews I read were so good. I have medium-coarse, unruly hair and I haven’t found any shampoo/conditioner that can tame it, so I thought maybe the sulfate-free or customization would make a difference. I purchased the peach scent and it smells wonderful (the shampoo especially). It reminds me of a Victoria Secret fragrance (maybe Love Spell?). However, the shampoo/conditioner itself didn’t make my hair feel as smooth in the shower as some other conditioners do (like Tresemme’s damage recovery (I also have a lot of split ends from flat ironing). Even after drying, my hair seems to be as frizzy as ever, even though my hair goal included straighten and anti-frizz. Thus I would say product itself is nothing special and for the price, regular supermarket/drugstore brands would be more worth it since these bottles are quite expensive. The shampoo/conditioner did come nicely packaged with the pump to assemble and also included stickers to further decorate the bottles. I think it would make a nice gift for someone who has more manageable hair, but for mine, it doesn’t do any better than one from the market.

I really like the shampoo + conditioner I ordered from Function of Beauty, but the customer service department leaves a lot to be desired. One of my orders took over a month to ship, and after three separate interactions with customer service, my products arrived with the wrong name on the bottles. The representatives whom I interacted with on the chat line were very courteous, but it took three tries to actually get my order out of shipping limbo. Additionally, the subscription model is very aggressive and difficult to cancel, and I really wish there was a way to say "save my order, I'll buy it again when I need it" instead of having to jump through a bunch of hoops to avoid being charged too many times. Also, the website isn't great and it can be hard to figure out how to actually place an order. However, the product itself is good and works as advertised. The shampoo is probably the best/most effective product of the group; the body wash is fine but unremarkable and the skincare products were extremely expensive and honestly less effective than what I buy at Walgreens. All in all, the company's products are good, but bear in mind that you'll probably have to fight to get them to show up correctly and on time.

I got my items pretty quickly. The packaging was really nice. The conditioner smells great. I've used both the shampoo and conditioner for about 2 weeks now. The shampoo lathers nicely. But frankly leaves my hair feeling a bit dry right after use. The conditioner, like I said smells very nice. It's consistency is pretty nice. I apply it as directed. Leave it on for a bit. It rinses out nicely. No tangles or knots. Not especially silky feeling. After it dries, my hair is fairly soft. Not too frizzy. Don't really notice any significant improvement as far as volume goes. Not especially moisturized feeling. Overall the products are nice. Nothing to write home to Mom about. Kind of pricey for the size of the bottles. Kind of disappointed overall. Found the same identical stuff at TARGET. For significantly less. Kind of surprised about that discovery. I'm thinking my disappointment is actually on me. I know better than to fall for Facebook hyped stuff. Maybe I haven't given it a fair amount of time to dazzle me. Not enough time to result in "everybody " complimenting me on my hair. Doubtful these things are actually going to happen. But, a girl can hope. Can't she?

I was really excited about my first shipment until it arrived. The shampoo bottle leaked all over inside the box, so besides having the mess of that, now I'm left with a half filled bottle of shampoo. Then the conditioner lid was all bent up and not twisted on correctly & it was super hard to get it off since the cap wasn't threaded properly on the bottle. The inside of those metal caps are kind of sharp so when I finally got it off it cut my finger tip like a paper cut would. Also the conditioner bottle, even though THAT ONE didn't leak, it was 3/4 full, not filled to the top or even close to the top. So considering what I paid for this & the fact that it's supposed to be a recurring charge every month, after reaching out to the support team, I was honestly most upset with how it was all handled. They said they would give me 20% off next order. Who is to say I even wanna keep this going after a horrible first experience?! I would have preferred a replacement box or bottle or money back on what I paid on THIS box because I am more than likely canceling now because why would I want to pay all this money for special shampoo & conditioner for it to be half empty and spilled again. If this is how they go "all out" for first time orders I can't imagine what a second box would look like & being that customer support isn't much help doesnt give a newcomer much hope for future issues on orders. Edit! How dare u respond to me with you've responded to my request...i WROTE THAT IN MY REVIEW THAT UR RESPONSE WAS c*ap! U gave me ONE option of 20% off FUTURE ORDER not making anything up on THIS ORDER. so if thats ur way of "responding" cool. Just figured id update the review and let other newbies KNOW THAT U ARE LYING when you say you have responded to my request. Not to this one you have not!! Still the same old offer after i sent you pictures and proof of my claims. Thanks anyways

I was excited to try Function Of Beauty and made my formula after my cousin introduced me. I have thick and curly mixed hair, and wanted something customized to me. I signed up for a subscription and waited for my shampoo and conditioner to arrive in the mail. The first issue was that it was marked as delivered, but never arrived to me. I’ve never had any issues with mail or porch pirates, but chalked it up to a delivery issue (not the fault of function of beauty). However, upon contacting support, I was told more than once that I needed to continue to wait 2 days (it had been 5 days past the suspected “delivered” date) and then told to check alleyways etc. The person who helped me subtly accused me of not being honest that the product was missing more than once. She implied my product was not missing, and when I insisted several times that I’d checked all around the outside of my home, she finally said that if I “truly was missing my product”, a “one-time replacement” would be issued. I received the second box no problem thanks to USPS. After getting the product and starting usage, I noticed my conditioner does not come out when I press down. There is no attached straw as there is in the shampoo bottle. I transferred it altogether to an old empty (not function of beauty) bottle so I would be able to use it. The cap has a very short piece that does not reach into the conditioner. I do not normally write reviews but really did not appreciate the way I was basically accused of lying to get replacements from FOB. For 40 dollar a month hair care, I expect better customer service and product. As far as the good goes, it has cute stickers, smells great, and lathers well. Really wish it had not been such a debacle to receive.
