Street View Camera Loan Application

The Google Street View camera loan program is here to help you share 360 experiences from amazing places around the world via Google Maps.

This program is open to pro photographers, travelers, and organizations (such as tourism boards, non-profits, government agencies, universities or research groups). It’s also open to others seeking to promote areas of cultural, historical or touristic significance as well as those who intend to photograph business interiors.

Under this program, we may offer to lend you a Street View Trekker backpack or a Street View app-compatible 360 camera, depending on availability and what may best match your needs.

Important Notes

  • We are unable to satisfy all loan requests, but we appreciate your time and will reach out to those we can.
  • This program is currently available for a limited set of countries, but we're working to expand eligibility to additional countries in the future.
  • Your submission of an application will not guarantee that you will be selected. Google will select participants at its sole discretion.
  • If selected for the program, Google will contact you regarding the manner in which the camera will be delivered.
  • Google is not able to provide funding or sponsorship for applicants to the Street View loan program, beyond the equipment loan itself.

Primary region where you’d like to use the loaner camera

For some of the cameras we offer, you may only use the camera in the country where you reside.

Provide detail about what you’d like to photograph, the locations you want to share with the world via 360 photography, and why you think it’d be useful to have imagery of those sites on Google Maps. Tell us what makes the places you’re proposing amazing, describe the type of imagery and any highlights you expect to capture.

What is the scale of this project? A small site may be a business or point of interest, whereas a large site may be a trail, multi-story building, or city center.

Does your proposed project require a camera loan during a specific period of time? We cannot guarantee a loan during the requested dates, but will try to accommodate when possible.

Will you be photographing primarily indoors or outdoors?

Can you obtain the necessary permissions to capture imagery at this location? You are responsible for understanding and obtaining any necessary permissions, e.g. written permissions, legal releases, filming permits, or the like are often required from the organization that manages a site.

For example, if you’re trying to improve tourism, do you intend to track for increased foot traffic to your location following the publication of the imagery? If you’re interested in increasing online traffic to your webpages with the embedded imagery, are you planning to implement tracking tools such as Google Analytics to measure success? What other goals do you have for this imagery – positive press, increased number of donations, etc?

For example, are you interested in promoting our partnership and the imagery at the collection and/or launch of the imagery? Might you build a custom viewing experience via our Google Maps and Street View APIs? Would you issue a press release or corporate blog post, host a local event with key policymakers, pitch the story of our partnership to relevant audiences, etc?

Are you planning to promote, share and repurpose the 360 photographs you collect on your website, mobile app, and in other pieces of marketing material via our Google Maps or Street View APIs?

I have read and accepted the terms of use for the Google Street View camera loan program.
