Status and Reports > Event Log

The Status and Reports > Event Log page displays the system event log for the search appliance.

The Event Log records all system activity and the date and time of each event. The events logged include, but are not limited to:

  • User logins and logouts
  • User IP addresses
  • Login failures
  • Session expirations
  • Crawler activity, including when the crawl starts, pauses, and resumes
  • Collection and front end creation
  • System password changes

You can page through the log, using the Previous and Next links. At the top of the log listing, you can see which lines are displayed and the total number of lines. You can enter text in the Show Lines Containing field to view particular events. In the Jump to Line field, enter a line number and click Jump to advance to a particular line.

Exporting the Event Log to a File

You can export the event log to a file.

To export the log to a file:

  1. Click Status and Reports > Event Log.
  2. Click Export to File. The File Download dialog box is displayed.
  3. Open the log file as a text file and save it to a location you choose, or download it as a text file to a location you select.

    The log filename defaults to the following name:

    [y-m-d]-operator_log.log
