Enjoyed our stay in this campground. Water was beautiful and calming. Staff very helpful and polite. Stay next to the back of property, nice and quiet.

Easy access, clean and just other friendly travelers as neighbors. The campground was shut down for renovations and has reopened with great reviews.

The Newport Campground is under new management. Our host, Solomon, was so warm and welcoming. You can tell that he has put a lot of care and energy into the recent renovations that are still underway. The campground is just minutes away from the Wakulla River for watercraft rentals. The kids loved kayaking down the Wakulla River in clear kayaks that we rented from Wakulla Watercraft Rentals. We only stayed at the Newport Campground for one night and wish we had more time to explore the St. Mark's wildlife refuge across the road. At night, the stars in the sky were brilliant and beautiful from the campground.
Highly recommend.
Facilities were clean. We enjoyed the abundant fresh air and brilliant night sky.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pam O.FL, FL03Nov 30, 2021
The campground hosts are nice, very helpful. However, due to the policy of allowing people to "camp" for 6 continuous months, it looks more like a run-down trailer park. These permanent residents take up nearly all of the full hookup sites, so your options are limited. One site has a permanent resident with a psychedelic, broken down camper. She lets her 5 cats outdoors and that part of the park smells like cat poop. Another trailer is parked long term with no one in it.
The WiFi is reasonable. The bathrooms are clean. The location is excellent, with access to St Marks River. Close to Wakulla and Aucilla Rivers. Across the street is St Marks NWR.
The park could be so much better if they kept it up, limited stays to 2 weeks like the state parks do, and enforced the "no roaming animals" rule. If you just need a quick stop over while traveling, the park is fine. But it's not someplace to stay if you like the campground to be an actual campground and not a sketchy trailer park.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andy R.Charlotte, NC059Dec 22, 2011First to Review
5 star service but the facilities really need attention. This park is county owned and has RV hook-ups for 30 or so spaces, tent camping also. It's the closest RV park to St. Mark's National Wildlife Reserve, literally across the road from the entrance, so it's a great location.
The shower/toilets seem to have been flooded and perhaps are impossible to keep floors clean for that reason. They are otherwise dilapidated and need serious upgrading, not talking fancy, just basically new material.
Campers are very quiet. When we stayed the park was full of hunters who got up before dawn (we didn't hear a thing, not an engine) and went to bed early.
Park manager was terrific, very helpful.
If you have a fully self-contained RV you won't mind skipping the showers but we didn't see any pull-throughs and our conversion van was a tight fit between trees (it was however the last spot available, there may be better spots). 50 amp is available too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary G.Hilton Head Island, SC030Dec 27, 2016
This is a small county park hosted by one very helpful man. Many of the sites are along the tree line at the back of the park. The roads & sites are packed dirt The water, electric and Wi-Fi worked fine. It Is quiet and has lots of trees. The beautiful St. Mark's Preserve is directly across the road, a great place to bike, hike & paddle. This park is not fancy but certainly serviceable, especially at the low cost.
