Decent room front desk was nice. Overall I would come back :) I'm happy! Yay visiting from Chico to get some beach and sun! Parking can be tricky if coming on a holiday. It is next to many businesses like chipotle, Denny's, shell gas, and more. I will be returning!

Got my key ready to relax for a beach day tomorrow!

      Good location, a bit noisy.
Next door to Denny's, Ralph's, Starbucks, Shell gas station, Madonna Inn, other shopping.
Very nice pool and hot tub, had it all to ourselves.
      Updated bathroom, clean bathroom.
      Microwave and refrigerator.
      Beautiful views.
Easy Highway 101 on and off. Pretty quiet inside the room considering how close to the 101 it is.
      Free wi-fi is fast.
Pretty good TV channels, HGTV, A&E, kids channels, some local channels, Discovery.
      Nice friendly personnel.

      Negative:
Filthy dirty carpet with cigarette burns and horrible spots that weren't stains, it hasn't been cleaned in quite some time. Biggest negative of the whole place. PLEASE clean your carpets. Then my husband had to say, if the carpets look like that, what do the mattresses look like? I had trouble sleeping after that.
Lots of smoking here, ashes on the walkways and on the railing of the 2nd floor.
There are a lot of bums near this place. San Luis is a safe place, but if I weren't from here I would be really nervous.
"Continental breakfast" really lousy. Farmers coffee, packaged pastries, oranges and apples that have seen better days, a juice machine and a variety of "breakfast bars". All served in the tiny lobby next to the check in desk.
No place to lounge other than the pool area, so I brought a chair out on the narrow 2nd floor walk way to type this while I wait for the rest of the group to wake up.
IMO a bit expensive, 160 bucks all in, for a Friday night.
I don't know if I would stay here again, because of the carpet and the price, it's too bad the carpets were so disgusting, because we really enjoyed the pool.

We booked this place for one night and I have to say it's not bad. Although the room did have a funky smell when we walked in, and the carpet did need some cleaning, we had the television, free breakfast, and wi-fi. We felt pretty safe around here. There were no noise complaints and best of all it was cheap! We were able to get a discount because my sister is a teacher. I recommend booking on the actual site as opposed to on a travel site because those charge extra fees!

As a business traveler for over 44 years the Vagabond Inn motel has to be the worst motel I that I have ever stayed in. Old out dated with none of the amenities you would expect a room to have. No hand lotion, no coffee pot, not even a clock. Had to ask them to change the sheets as ours had holes in them, the next set also had holes. Spend a couple $$ more and stay somewhere else.

Cheers: Right next to supermarket, bookstore, Best Buy, Dennys, IHOP. Well-stocked rooms for its caliber. Right off the 101 but pretty quiet.

Jeers: bed and pillows were too soft. Weak wifi signal.

Kind of surprised by the low reviews at this place. You get what you pay for. If you're expecting sparkling new appliances, sweeping panoramic views and luxurious accommodations...move on. If you're looking for a good place to stay with a friendly front desk, coupons for local restaurants, and a FREE breakfast (even if it's a small selection), then this is your place. If you want to save some money and don't mind losing some niceties, then look no further.

Steer clear. It wasn't as horrible as some reviewers complained, but at $140 this is a rip off. It's more like a seedy motel 6. I usually walk barefoot in hotels, but I was sure to keep my flip flops on. The carpet was threadbare and stained. The beds were ok, but seeing the worn out and threading box spring was gross. TV was spotty and many channels didn't work. Rust in the sink and chipped Formica. Towels are very thin but still didn't dry overnight. The room stunk - since they allow pets and some rooms are for smoking, I'm guessing that despite it being labeled a non smoking room, all sorts of foul odors crept in. Mostly a damp odor. It's in a great location so it's too bad they don't fix it up and make decent repairs. It was quiet.

The key door broke and me and my 2 small kids were stuck in the cold at 9 at night from coming from the hot tub for over 30 min. They refused to let me talk to manager refused to give any discounts. the worst place to stay. Staff can barely speak English and tried to give away our sweat saying the will give big discount witch was $11. I said no and they magically found my room. They are all crooks. Henry, Tina, Alex. All failed to help correct my kids being stuck in cold soaking wet.

It's pricey for what you get, however you're really paying for the location.

I understand that not all hotels can under go renovations but at least purchase some new lamp shades. These things have rust, rips and stains on them. The room isn't sparkling clean but, it's fair.

A few good things that they DO have to offer is the Televisions are updated.
      *It includes HBO.
      *You get free wifi.
*You're right off the freeway and there are many places to go and eat around you. (Starbucks is literally across the street with Ralphs grocery store)

Overall, we made the best of our stay here but will not stay again. Considering Vagabond was the last and only option.

So disappointing. Dirty bathroom with mold in the shower/tub. Caulking coming off. Soot came up through the pipes into the tub! Used wash cloth still there from previous people! NOT worth $153.00!!!
