OAUSTECH

Secondary school principals in Ondo State under the auspices of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, has called on the management of the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, to start running programmes in education to meet the needs of teachers and school administrators in the area.

The principals made the call in a meeting of the group held at Igbotako Community Grammar School, Igbotako in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that no fewer than 22 secondary school principals attended the meeting.

The Public Relations Officer of OAUSTECH, Mr Paul Adeagbo, who was at the meeting, at the instance of the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof.Emmanuel Ologunorisa, said the demand of the principals would be conveyed to the VC for onward action.

Adeagbo assured the school administrators that Ologunorisa would consider their request and decide as appropriate, saying that “OAUSTECH is poised to meet the needs of the immediate and remote its environments.

“OAUSTECH will not renege on the tripartite functions of the institution – teaching, research and community service and the university are putting finishing touches to commencing professional master’s and doctorate degrees to develop the blue economy of the coastal region in which the institution is located.”

He added,” Efforts are on top gear to mount programmes leading to the awards of bachelor of science in applied geology, bachelor of nursing science and bachelor of science in maritime studies and nautical science, in addition to the National Universities Commission newly-approved programmes in management sciences (accounting, business management, entrepreneurship and project management), which candidates can apply for in 2022/2023 academic session.”

The institution’s image-maker also disclosed that OAUSTECH had entered into partnerships and collaborations with some leading universities across the globe, which parents and school administrators could advise students to leverage on for their self-development.
