Highlights from the 4th #IndustryFocus session which focused on #Consumer and #Retail. In her opening speech, The Malta Chamber CEO, Dr Marthese Portelli, highlighted that retailers need to fully reimagine their business models. “Very few have taken or are taking the full plunge. Some retailers are choosing to retain the status quo, while others are responding with incremental changes. This passivity has resulted in reduced spending and insufficient investment in crucial areas,” she noted. Despite the war in Ukraine, which touched many of us personally, and the repercussions of two years of crisis caused by the global pandemic, Take Off brought incredible results to light in 2022. We met our sustainability targets, saving millions of items from becoming waste, and added a roster of prestigious new brands to our growing portfolio. Last year also saw an extraordinary increase in revenue, a success made possible because of our brilliant and tireless team as well as Take Off’s incredible network of partners. Last Friday, I was awarded as Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Malta Business Awards 2022. It was an incredible sensation to feel that my efforts and those of my team were paid off. I am pursuing a model of entrepreneurship based on kindness and empathy, and I am 100% sure that this is the right path for those who choose to embark on business adventures, not because the current times demand it but because it is simply the right thing to do. I want to thank the TAKE OFF team, who, as always, was there to support me: this award is for you. In particular, the evening was attended by three girls from our Kyiv branch who visited us at our HQ in Malta: I hope you are proud of what we have built together and I hope I’ve brought some pride to my beloved home country, Ukraine. Thanks to Malta Enterprise and Malta Chamber of SMEs for organizing such a memorable evening and The General Soft Drinks Co Ltd., which sponsored the award and believed in my story. Thank you.

Dear friends, My name is Julia Andruk, I am a 3D interior designer, and I moved from Ukraine to Malta considering the sad war situation in my country. I would like to find a job in Malta or remotely and I am interested in joining a company where my more than 10 years of experience as a 3D interior designer could help with your 3D projects. I have developed modelling and 3D design projects for classic and contemporary furniture using 3ds Max (Corona), ArchiCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Blender and ZBrush and I am also fluent in hand drawing. I am still at a basic level of English, but I am taking courses to learn as much as possible in the shortest possible time. I am very motivated to start a new challenge in my life. Oggi ho concluso il mio percorso alla SDA Bocconi e sono arrivata al traguardo tanto desiderato del titolo di Executive MBA. Per utilizzare metafore relative al mio passato da atleta, è stato sicuramente uno degli arrivi più impegnativi della mia vita, fatto di costanza, dedizione e focus ma anche di tante soddisfazioni e compagni e compagne di squadra stimolanti, affidabili e ammirevoli. Sono stati due anni meravigliosi ma, nonostante l’emozione del raggiungimento dell’obiettivo, non sono riuscita ad essere così felice come avrei desiderato. Il mio paese, l’Ucraina, sta soffrendo una guerra disastrosa e nello spirito sono con i miei connazionali che lottano ogni giorno per ottenere nuovamente un Paese libero. Spero di riuscire a mettere al servizio del mio Paese tutta la conoscenza che mi ha dato questo titolo e di portare Take Off LTD verso un futuro di crescita, contribuendo allo sviluppo economico dell’Ucraina libera. L’unico mio desiderio in questo momento è di tornare a vedere giustizia e pace nella mia amata Ucraina. Slava Ukraïni! 🇺🇦

We are very concerned and grieved about the attack on our beloved Ukraine. We have an office operating in Kyiv and, moreover, colleagues and relatives who live there. It is an attack on democracy and freedom and the feeling of injustice is what hurts us the most. We will do everything in our power to help the community in Ukraine. #StandWithUkraine #Ukraine
